RI Research Alliance 2009 Collaborative Research Grants

Collaborative Research Grant Eligibility

Projects must be catalytic in nature and clearly lead to major new research opportunities that can be supported by federal agencies, corporations and/or foundations. Projects should also contribute towards current or future economic development of the state through technology development and/or commercialization potential. The maximum amount of any given award will be $200K.

Proposals must clearly show how the combined efforts of the institutions can lead to results that could not be achieved by either alone. All science and engineering research areas can be considered. Those projects with strong translational components and projects that focus on infrastructure development that significantly advances the research competitiveness of scientists in Rhode Island for federal funding projects or directly enhance efforts to secure additional EPSCoR awards are especially encouraged.

How to Apply for Collaborative Research Grants

Applications for the RI Research Alliance 2009 Collaborative Research Grants are now being accepted. Through this program, the RI Science & Technology Advisory Council (STAC) will award funding to research projects that promote inter-organizational collaboration across Rhode Island public and private research institutions and/or expand the research infrastructure. Pre-proposals are due October 23, 2008 with full proposals due November 6, 2008.

Funds will be awarded through a competitive peer-review process to support collaborative research that is well positioned to attract follow-on investment. Eligible projects must be catalytic in nature and clearly lead to major new research opportunities that can be supported by federal agencies, corporations and/or foundations. Those projects with strong translational components are especially encouraged.
